On Wednesday we watched a French film about a waitress in a small cafe in Paris. Amelie sees it as her undertaking in life to right wrongs and improve the lives of her customers. But while doing all this, she proves to be rather less successful at bettering her own lot of problems, despite falling for a neighbouring loner with his own weird personal goal.
for example one of her last good deeds to do, was to return a man’s photo album that fell out of his motorbike. This man, Nino, has collected this photo album using discarded photos from the metro photo booth. In her quest to return this photo album, she develops a affection on Nino, but is too shy to start a romance. She returns the photo album anonymously, but leaves some masked photos of herself in the album, one of which asks if he’d like to meet.
Nino responds with persistent attempts to make contact with her, despite her equally persistent hiding. Eventually, with the support and prompting of Mr Dufayel, she meets Nino and they spend the night together.
Amelie is an interesting movie that keeps the viewer interested through comedy, random facts thrown at you, and curiosity to the plot. Amelie is a French film that uses subtitles throughout the film.
Also the narrator in the film often times describes what motions, feelings, or thoughts are going through the characters heads.
I found the movie to be very strange and random.
The story line was interesting and unique, the character was very unique but overall it was not my type of film.
